The State We Are İn

Overview

This piece is based on a copy of Picasso’s Guernica that was found in Yüksekova-Hakkari, one of the seven towns that have been destroyed in the state-led destruction in Southeast Turkey (North Kurdistan). Filmed candidly in the ruined city town of Yuksekova, the work is a contemporary reading of Guernica in the light of recent warfare in Kurdistan.
