Overview
Distinguished Czech filmmaker Petr Weigl adapts Schubert's masterwork "Die Winterreise." Rather than interpret the plot literally, Weigl uses pantomime to bring to life the complex range of emotions the music inspires. Each of the song cycle's interwoven stories involves travelers undertaking a "winter journey" together by carriage. Mezzo-soprano Brigitte Fassbaender provides beautiful, soaring vocals.
